11/10/12
This time I met with my conversation partner, Plengchart.
Plengchart is from Thailand. He's around
my age, (although I didn't ask it) and is a grad student. We spent the first few minutes introducing
ourselves. Plengchart is studying molecular biology, which is super impressive.
His English is fine for conversation and daily life, but he say he has to take
some sort of test, (not sure if it the TOEFL or not). We decided that it would be best to meet on
Mondays and Wednesdays every. We didn't have anything specific to do during that time so we decided to meet for lunch. We seem to be getting along pretty well, and
our schedules are compatible. I have a good feeling about this match up.
Conversation
wise, it went well. He’s most concerned
about things like forgetting pluralization. He explained to me that in his
native language pluralization and articles are handled differently so it is
difficult for him. I promised to do the
best I could to help out, but I’m unsure of the balance between correction and
communication. I’ll just have to do my best.
