Jordan TP5

Yesterday, December 5th, I met with Jason and Sally for the fourth time at the Public Library. While they seem to be quite interested in working on their speaking, it's hard to find ways to get them to produce more language. I have tried stimulating conversation with topics such as sports, schoolwork, life on outer planets, music, and others but I can only seem to get a few words from them at a time. They seem to be making good progress with their reading and pronunciation, and I plan on bringing a writing exercise (appropriate to each's level) when I meet with them on Monday. Also I will be looking for new reading material, as Jason seems to be stuck on "Henry and Mudge" books, and Sally rarely chooses anything besides "Arthur". I learned that Sally was studying different types of energy in science class this week (potential vs. kinetic), and I found out they are enjoying the Calvin & Hobbes collection I let them borrow. For practice at home, I gave them a map of a park off N. Meridian road and suggesting they could go on a family outing to play tennis or hike the trails there. Additionally I let them borrow a few CD's, some jazz and Christmas music, half instrumental, half in English. I'm looking forward to seeing them again Monday and trying to find some more things to talk about!
