On
Tuesday I went to CIES to tutor Mubarak and when I got there I realized I hadn’t
assigned him anything the last time we’d met. Additionally he admitted that he didn’t
feel like doing any work. I chalked it up and told him we’d just hang out. His
friend (I don’t know exactly how to spell it but it sounds like a slightly
Arabic version of Jason) was watching a soccer match outside so we told him to
come inside. Josen (*spelling) said that his favorite team was AC Milan and we
discussed how they’re going to be worse now having lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic,
quite possibly the best player in the world. He agreed but was clearly a
diehard fan. Mubarak’s favorite team is Arsenal and we also discussed the
recent trade of Robin Van Persie. Though a big loss, he didn’t deem it as much
of a crucial blow as people often make it out to be. After that we watched the
live AC Milan game on Josen’s computer and Mubarak pulled up another game on
his computer. We just hung out, shot the shit, and watched the games. A lot of the Kuwaiti guys like soccer and have favorite teams,
which as a result of not often being broadcasted in the U.S., pay and sign up
for various live streams on the internet. I thought that was an interesting
trend.
