Kim Clauson_ TP 11

I met Manal on Wednesday, November 27, 2012 at her home.  First, we reviewed her homework, and then, we accomplished a grammar and writing lesson.  The grammar activity concerned prepositions and the writing lesson was about telling relationships by using a family tree.  For the lesson on prepositions, we drew a box and a ball based on the relationship indicated by the proposition.  Afterwards, we drew the snacks on the coffee and wrote sentences about their relationships as well.  I figured that the pictorial element will help Manal learn these words.  I made sure to provide an example so that Manal had an idea as to how the sentence is structured.  The family tree lesson was a lesson I thought of after I noticed that Manal didn’t have the basic words in her vocabulary to explain her family relationships. We drew and labeled the tree, and subsequently, made more cloze and fill-in-the blank sentences.  I think this lesson was successful because Manal enjoyed it, and it was perfect situated around her personal level.
