Tyler TP 4

Saturday was my second meeting with the girls. But this time I came with a different approach; candy and beads!! Or... rewards and incentives. When I meet the girls they were in story time and to my surprise they were excited to see me!! When we got to our area, I broke out my bag. I had them hooked from there on out. As I displayed the multi colored beads on the table, I asked them to count and tell me the color of the beads. They did so with ease. So I then moved on to teaching them the 'rainbow song': (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, repeat twice then, thats the color of the rainbow) But they weren't very interested. The beads kept them entertained by itself. To finally add reading into the mix, I told them that I would make bracelets with them if they agreed to pick out at least two books. After the grumbles came over wanting to make the bracelets first, they finally agreed to pick out their books. Once we were finished they were off to their parents showing off their new accessories. Once I got with their parents I presented the children their candy. They were thrilled. After saying our good byes the parents invited me over to dinner! I was honored.

  1. Sounds like you are fairly adept at knowing how to keep these girls attention. Do you read with thes girls as well?
