On Saturday night I went to the
Strip on Tennessee Street. At a time I now estimate to be around 11:30 I
excused myself from the loudness and noise pollution of the bar to take a phone
call from my sister. The first thing I saw was just outside in line was one of
my tutoring partners and friends Mohammed. For those who may not appreciate
this yet…It was phenomenal and hilarious to randomly see this Kuwaiti kid in
line for the most southern bar in Tallahassee…Kens. He was accompanied by his
friend, whose name I forget, but the two of them had in common the trait of appearing
like the most out of place people there. It was awesome. I took them inside and
showed them around, introduced them to my friends, we threw a couple darts,
etc. His reason for coming out was “I don’t know, we just want to go out”,
which was enough for me.
Soon I pawned him off on my
friends so I could achieve my ultimate goal: introduce him to a girl. I found a
pretty girl, who by outfit and posse, I assumed was in a sorority, thus I could
easily convince her to spare a few minutes of her time for “my boy Mohammed”. I
introduced myself, told her the deal, and she soon agreed to talk to him. I
went to him and told him “that girl over there wants to talk to you”. He found
trouble believing this, but with a couple friendly pushes they were chatting up
a storm.
The conversation didn’t last
long. Afterwards we went to Redrocks where I had the DJ play a Jay-Z song he
liked. I also taught him to put one foot up on a little step up area and his
hand in the air and “rock out”. This was foreign to him. Nonetheless I had him
do it till the confused security guard told us to chill. He left around 1ish,
after a night that I would undoubtedly call a huge success.
