Tyler CP3

Eating Dinner with Ritu was very interesting. She is from India. She moved down here to join her husband, whom she only meet once before marrying. When I told her about my experiences coming down to Florida, she thought I was so brave. But for me, moving away for college was more so a thing I had to do. I didn't think it was such a big deal because a lot of students move away from home to pursue there education, I hadn't really looked at my situation as unique. But she was so impressed. She said that she would be so afraid. As I inquired more about her feelings about arranged marriages, I tried to make sure my questions were not offensive. To Ritu, the idea of arranged marriage was not too big of a deal. She said that the girls knew that their parents, the father playing the biggest role, would pick someone good for them. She said that the parents looked for someone who had a good job, no criminal record, and was handsome. She ended it this with saying, "What more could you want?"She made everything sound so simple! She said that the idea of dating was very new in her culture and only the younger generations now are starting to do it, but before, I'm guessing this was not allowed. Can you imagine marrying someone you've never meet? She seems very happy though. She has a son who is 3 years old whom she adores. She told me that in their culture they sacrifice anything for their children because that is what their parents did for them. The pattern that I am seeing amongst foreigners and their children is remarkable. The love they have for there children is unbreakable.
